优良的设施，温馨的服务。 2003年上半年，国泰电影院进行了全面大修改建，将原有978座平坡式的放映大厅改建成三个风格迥异、舒适豪华的阶梯式电影放映厅，更新或添置了全部放映、售票电子显示、冷暖空调、水电、消防喷淋等设施。影院内部设计、施工装饰精致、典雅、舒适、温馨。其中:第1厅225座，红色基调，热烈辉煌；第2厅236座，蓝色基调，宁静温馨；第3厅灰色基调，淡雅平和。1、2号厅银幕宽11.2米，3号厅银幕宽8米，各厅均配置CP650全数码立体声音响设备。为了顺应电影数字化放映趋势，2008年7月，各电影厅都配备了先进的数字电影放映机。
　　国泰电影院每月至少为社区放映一场免费公益电影，还经常举办敬老专场、残疾人专场、学生专场等，2005年6月28日起实行星期二全天半价，2006年2月22日起在全市率先推出星期三也全天半价。

　　辉煌的业绩，良好的形象。 几十年来，国泰电影院多次举办"观众见面会"、"新片首映式"、"新片新闻发布会"等，先后举办"亚洲电影周"、"苏联电影周"、"朝鲜电影周"、"优秀京剧影片回顾展"、"澳大利亚电影节影展"、“法国电影展”等活动。1993年起为历届上海国际电影节指定放映单位。2005年票房1038万元，2006-2008年票房均越过1100万元，2009年又突破了1600万元。均创影院历史新高。
　　1984年以来，国泰电影院与总参某部驻上海军事代表室共建社会主义精神文明，双方1996年在江西全南县援建了“国泰”希望小学，以后每年以各种形式对他们提供资助。1984年以来，国泰电影院至今已连续二十五年被评为"上海市文明单位"、"上海市军民共建先进集体"。2005年被国家广电总局授于"五星级影院"铜牌，2005年10月被中央精神文明建设指导委员会授于"全国精神文明建设工作先进单位"铜牌。七十多年来，国泰电影院以温馨的服务接待了数以千万计的新老观众，积淀了丰厚的人文内涵，不少社会名流、艺术人士来过这里，许多观众在这里留下美好的回忆。国泰已经成为并将继续成为广大市民喜爱的休闲娱乐场所和观众理想的艺术殿堂。

Classic Architecture& Long history:
Cathay Theatre, one of the few historic cinemas, is still open in Shanghai. Located at the No.870 Middle Huaihai Road, the corner of Maoming Road and Huaihai Road，it started its business in 1932,with an American movie called ‘Free Soul’ on show. Thanks to the architect C. H. Gonda, Cathay Theatre, which is in special deco style still maintains its distinctive elegance. In 1994, out of its outstanding building and long history, Cathay Theatre was named “excellent history architecture”,issued by Shanghai Municipal Government.

Standard Facilities & High-quality service:
The spacious auditorium once had 1,081 seats. Later in 2003, the auditorium was triplexed and reopened on June 28. It reserved the historical building style and mainly focused on the inner decoration, equipments and the service quality.? There are three halls with 225, 236 and 123 seats distinctively. Auditorium 1 is glorious in red; auditorium 2 is peaceful in blue; and auditorium 3 is elegant in gray. All the auditoriums are equiped with advanced screens,digital movie projectors and CP650 digital stereogram. Besides,Cathay Theatre also updated all the facilities in ticket office and canteen. Taking safety into consideration, Fire Public Derices are also equiped with.
Apart from the standard facilities, Cathay Theatre also makes efferts to provide better service:
Each month, Cathay Theatre invites students,the disabled, and other disadvantaged minorities from communities,geracomiums,cancer clubs,etc to watch movie for free at least once a month.
From June 28,2005,Cathay started to give 50% off on Tuesday.
From Feb.22,2006, Cathay started to give 50% off on Wednesday.
